Ballers donate to Slavation Army

At events held at local paintball field, Back Country Paintball, donations to local causes are gathered from players. ‘We are proud that the players like to contribute to good programs in our community” says Back Country Paintball owner Tony Armstrong. ” We collect the food and money and get it to where it can be best used. “Through donations at the Big Games or special events, players can donate food or money to the cause and many do. It is very encouraging to see the support our young people give to various community programs.”  This season will see lots of opportunity for donations at the Boot Camp Big Game to held April 30th and at our special July Big Game that will see donations raised for Parkinsons Society Canada. (A cause that is very dear to the Armstrong family).

February Back Country Paintball went to Hidden Valley Highlands ski hill for winter paintball action. We set up our shooting range on the hill for Mens day on February 11th. The skiiers came down the Dipsy Doodle to our station where they would stop and shoot 20 rounds to knock down 7 targets. Time was added for each target of the seven still standing. We had 50 plus skiiers through. It was so much fun!!

On February 25 th we returned for Ladies day. This time we set the shooting range up near the chalet. the ladies could ski to the range lean on the straw bales and take aim at the targets. The ladies had a great time as well. They counted how many targets they could shoot with their 20 shots.

Sorry to say guys, the average target hits was higher for the girls. 031efeff9804ccf Winter paintball at Hidden Valley Highlands

Paintball in Muskoka - How Back Country Paintball began.

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

And so blogging began at Back Country Paintball.

In this blog I will try to answer as many questions about paintball as I can. There are so many good things about paintball that I am having trouble getting started.
In 2006 my sons Aaron and Brandon purchased paintball markers and started playing in the back yard. They were always after me to play. “Two is no good, we need more people”. Well, after a summer of playing we finally found a field to play at in Baysville. Muskoka paintball run by Jamie Armstrong and some friends.

Aaron had to work so Brandon and I went, he was 13 at the time.
Well I had so much fun and Jamie and his friends were so helpful I could not resist. Why is there no field in Bracebridge? Jamie lived in Bracebridge, But he did not have any property. Well I do have property I have 16 acres less than a kilometre from town.
Thats where we started, Jamie, Kyle, Jay and Spencer helped us all winter to get ready we had to get zoning change we had to get some fields built get some rental markers and gear and clean out the garage for a shop.
All was going smooth, until Aaron and his buddy Jake Kay went to Wasaga Paintball to play Frostys Revenge. It was a rainy snowy day in March. I could not believe my eyes when we got there. There were 500 people there, all ages from lots of places. The boys had a great time.
I decided then and there we are going to build a field so people will come to play paintball in Muskoka.
At our zoning hearing Kyle Wilson came with me as an expert. We were opposed by one family who said that paintball encouraged aggressive and destructive behaviour in youth. Well Kyle almost came unglued. that is not the case at all. I talked to the council, I have been a Sunday school teacher, a hockey coach, soccer coach and scout leader for many years.
There is now way I would invite such behaviour in fact we have found it to be so much the opposite since that day.
So this is how family fun started the Back Country Paintball family. I intend to help anyone who will read or listen to this blog the inside scoop on paintball as I see it. I believe it is one of the best things that has happened to Bracebridge and it is definitely the best thing that has happened to our family.  I hope I can show you how it can be family fun and important to you as well.
