Young Gunz Paintball in Muskoka

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Hi everyone

This is it, Young Gunz starts this week April 14th after school.

We have had a long winter and are anxious to get playing paintball outdoors again.  There will be some changes at the field this year.

To start I have become a social media guru… well not really, but I am trying. I do have a blog now at http://www.muskokapaintball.com/ and we have a new facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Backcountry-paintball . Check them out! We are also updating the web page http://www.backcountrypaintball.com/ it should be all new by the end of this week.

BACK COUNTRY BOOT CAMP is on April 30th for those of you who played at Muskoka Mayhem this game will be fun don’t miss out there will be some cool prizes and a spot to sell your old gear or maybe upgrade to some new stuff for the year.

One more new thing that we will be posting on the facebook page is CHEAP DAYS. We will be hosting one on the last Sunday of each month through the season. It will be open to all ages and costs will be the same as on Young Gunz nights. Only $25 per bag of 500. This day is for all of you guys that are too old for young gunz and want a chance to play where it is a little cheaper.

Prices this year will be relatively the same except that we have to do the HST different this year so all prices that we display do not include tax.

I have included the info about memberships for those who are interested.

Hope everyone is good and hope to see you soon.

How Paintball Beginners Can Begin to Enjoy Playing

How Paintball Beginners Can Begin to Enjoy Playing

Over the last two decades, a lot of people have found that the game of paintball is full of excitement and is really a very fun game to play. It is one of the most popular games that people of all ages can play and has been growing quite popular ever since. In fact, there are even paintball competitions being held all over the world. Muskoka is the perfect place for paintball the trees and terrain lend great attributes to this outdoor adventure game.

This game or sport was discovered by 12 weekend warriors who got a hold of paintball guns used by foresters and found that tagging each other with it was tons of fun and full of action and considered it as an adult version of the game of tag.

Although the paintball is all about shooting each other, there are quite a lot of variations on how paintball is played. Beginners are thrilled by the many different types of games played. It is not all about getting hit, many times you will play and you may not even get hit on the body. A hit on your gun, mask, or protective vest counts as being marked with out the player feeling a thing.

Beginners, will get safety training by the field marshalls and lots of help from fellow players with more experince. You will quickly see that paintballers are a community of freinds that are out to have fun and camradarie is of utmost importance. There are lots of basic games that will be played, such as elimination, capture the flag, attack and defend and manhunt. As you can see, the name of the games pretty much speak for themselves and are usually basic. It is fun and very simple to play. However, as you experience playing the game more, you will find yourself looking for other variations of the game.

For example, the fugitive will be able to eliminate anybody on the field by shooting them anywhere in the body while the bounty hunters are just assigned to shoot the fugitive at a specific part of the body to capture him or her, such as on the arms and legs. In this game, there will also be a time limit and the bounty hunters should be able to tag or eliminate the fugitive within the time limit in order to win.

Aside from the various games played, you will see that there are also scenario games. These games are huge paintball games that have certain rules for a certain scenario. Scenario games in Muskoka Paintball usually have a theme and props that make the day loads of fun. Moms dads and kids can all get in on the action. There will be large numbers of players involved in the game. In fact, some scenario paintball games can have as much as 100 people participating.

As you can see, paintball is a lot of fun to play with. It’s not just about shooting someone, but there are different variations of the game that can make it even more fun and exciting. So lets get off the couch turn off the game and go play for real.

See you soon

Tips for Spring Paintball Marker Maintenance

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Its spring at Muskoka Paintball and time to tune up your gear for the coming season. Here are some tips to follow so you can hit the ground running this paintball season and have your marker clean and ready when the first paint flies.

You can pour as much money as you want into your marker, but without proper care it will not work at all. To keep your gun running at its’ finest follow the tips below.
1.Read the owners manual for your paintball marker. It will tell you what paintball marker maintenance has to be done regularly, and how often it has to be done.

2.Before disassembling your paintball gun insure that the guns safety is on

3. Next remove the hopper and all paintballs, twist off the air tank and make sure the bolt is in a forward resting position (even when the tank is removed the gun will still hold air, shoot it out carefully).

4.Use warm water and a soft cloth to clean the outside part of the barrel, and dry it with a towel. Clean the inside part of the gun’s main body by running a squeegee through the entire body and scrubing with a soft cloth. Use toothbrushes, cotton swabs and cotton balls to clean in tight crevices. Use a small or medium-bristle brush to clean all the dirt, debris and broken paint out of the grip-frame. Clean the bolt, striker and hammer with warm water and a soft cloth. Completely dry all the pieces. Carefully examine the o-rings for cracks, this is where air leaks most often occur. Replace cracked o-rings, and check the other internal parts for replacement or repair.

5.While cleaning watch out for foreign objects that interfere with your guns performance and be sure to clean away any foreign material like old dried paint or dirt and grit. Leaving the gun globbed with paint will likely prevent it from shooting and greatly decrease its life span.

6.Begin cleaning the gun at the barrel. pull a squeegee through the barrel to get it clean.

7.Check the detents, look for worn O-rings and broken or missing springs

8.Watch out for your pins and screws, losing one of those can put a damper on a good paintball day.

9. before reasembling place a drop of certified paintball gun lubricant on each moving seal. (on the bolt, rammer, etc.)

The most important thing to remember while caring for your gun is to keep it clean and oiled. Firearm lubricants cannot be used as they can quickly ruin internal seals. So always use the lube that came with the marker or come by the shop and purchase paintball marker lube.

At Back Country Paintball we have just orderd in a fresh supply of lube, and O rings and have a good supply of bolts and parts needed to maintain and upgrade your marker for the season.

Brandon and Aaron are also ready to help you or to take proffessional care of your marker to make sure it is ready to go when the snow is gone. So come over to the pro shop and see the boys.

See you soon

Ballers donate to Slavation Army

At events held at local paintball field, Back Country Paintball, donations to local causes are gathered from players. ‘We are proud that the players like to contribute to good programs in our community” says Back Country Paintball owner Tony Armstrong. ” We collect the food and money and get it to where it can be best used. “Through donations at the Big Games or special events, players can donate food or money to the cause and many do. It is very encouraging to see the support our young people give to various community programs.”  This season will see lots of opportunity for donations at the Boot Camp Big Game to held April 30th and at our special July Big Game that will see donations raised for Parkinsons Society Canada. (A cause that is very dear to the Armstrong family).

February Back Country Paintball went to Hidden Valley Highlands ski hill for winter paintball action. We set up our shooting range on the hill for Mens day on February 11th. The skiiers came down the Dipsy Doodle to our station where they would stop and shoot 20 rounds to knock down 7 targets. Time was added for each target of the seven still standing. We had 50 plus skiiers through. It was so much fun!!

On February 25 th we returned for Ladies day. This time we set the shooting range up near the chalet. the ladies could ski to the range lean on the straw bales and take aim at the targets. The ladies had a great time as well. They counted how many targets they could shoot with their 20 shots.

Sorry to say guys, the average target hits was higher for the girls. 031efeff9804ccf Winter paintball at Hidden Valley Highlands
